Puppy Class

Puppy Class

Puppy class is great!  It will help your dog learn how to interact safely with other dogs and help him or her to bond with you.  Plus, you’ll pick up a lot of great training tips!

What To Bring To Puppy Class?

Along with your puppy, bring a 6-foot leash (not retractable), a small bag of soft treats, and potty bags.

When and Where is Puppy Class?

We meet weekly at Countryside Animal Hospital, 708 Schilling Dr, Dundas.  Puppy class is limited to dogs between the ages of 8  – 18 weeks (some exceptions for small breeds).  Puppy Class is $89.00.  Please make checks payable to Jane Fenton.

What Can I Expect from Puppy Class?

K9 Academy is a four-week course designed to teach all the classic elements of sit, sit/stay, come (recall), heel/ loose leash walking, and down. We also teach the principles of emotional conditioning, confidence and impulse control which help solve problems like stealing food, jumping up, toy guarding, dog reactivity and doorbell reactivity.

For young dogs six months and under, there will be a short socializing session with fellow puppies at the start of class. Older dogs will work on on-leash greeting manners. The Canine Good Citizen test is available for $25 extra fee at the end of this course for dogs 8 months and older. This enables your dog to volunteer as a therapy dog at places like schools and care centers

Puppy class will give your dog a chance to play and socialize with other dogs his or her age.  At class, we  work on trust and respect exercises that teach your pup to allow you to handle him/her without biting or other rude behavior.  Other issues can be covered at owner’s request. We teach a foundation of communicating with your dog that will guarantee a happy lifelong relationship for you both.
